Carl Pavano looks ready to take up challenge on the mound with the Minnesota Twins – MLB Update
The Minnesota Twins are looking to benefit from Carl Pavano this season and the two year contract he is on will provide the fuel to knock the bull pins in the ball-games that will come up in the 2011 Major League Baseball season. The crowd at Target Field
will be raving mad, in terms of support and the veteran pitcher will be up to the mark again to exemplify how the ball should be thrown from the mound.
Pavano has been busy in Fort Myers, Florida, and he feels he is set to take his regular spot in the Twins’ rotation. From what is known, the situation is set for grooming and the maestro is back in play. The hurler was recently part of the opening pitchers’
line-up against his former club, the New York Yankees. Much to the satisfaction of the Twins, the premier starter put the Yanks to the sword as he closed down the mammoths on a 7-6 score tally, in favour of his team.
The display from the hurler was not impressive, by many standards. The hurler gave away four runs from 11 hits in six innings of play. He was nevertheless, upbeat over his 90 pitch-count outing. The game will offer some support as Pavano gets ready to head
out against the Toronto Blue Jays.
"I feel good," said Pavano. "There's no way around that. I do feel good. I'm excited to get this show on the road."
Pavano is walking into the season with a spring earned run average ratio of 2.16. The Twins will hope to earn more from him than the Bronx Bombers who had him start for them 26 times in four seasons. He fortunately has the support of Yankees manager Joe
Girardi.
"I knew he could pitch," Girardi said. "I wasn't really here much during his years of being hurt, but he had back [injuries], he had elbow [injuries], he had a cracked rib. His elbow injury was real, he had Tommy John [surgery]. Fortunately for him, he's
been healthy. Unfortunately for the Yankees, we got him when he was unhealthy. That happens sometimes when you sign [pitchers]. But he can pitch."
The Yankees will be reeling with Pavano’s loss to the club. In 2010, the veteran turned up 17 wins for the Twins. That is a very impressive figure these days.
