Carl Pettersson wins the fifth PGA Tour title at RBC Heritage

Carl Pettersson is the winner of the RBC Heritage, as he scored a 2-under 69 in the final round on Sunday, April 15, 2012.
The 34-year-old Swedish professional golf player displayed an amazing performance at the Harbour Town Golf Links in Hilton Head, South Carolina.
He scored a 14-under 270 and recorded his fifth PGA Tour win, since turning professional in 2000. The winning margin was 5 strokes over the American, Zach Johnson.
"It was great," Pettersson said. "I didn't want to put too much pressure on myself, so I kind of downplayed the whole thing. But getting off to a birdie on one was great".
Pettersson performed well throughout the four days and amazed the spectators by carding a good score. However, he failed to post a decent score in the first round played on Thursday.
He started the tournament by scoring a 70. Then he made a drastic change in scoring and shot a 65. By making a -6, he reached among the top-5 of the leaderboard and competed well for the title.
He added a 5-under par on Saturday and secured the top position. He boosted his score and further added a -2 on Sunday. He bagged $1,026,000 and 500 FedEx cup points.
"Ultimately, just cause you don’t look like an athlete doesn’t mean you’re not an athlete," Pettersson said after winning the title. "We’re not running a marathon out here, we’re walking 18 holes".
Pettersson's performance was also attractive because he made 22 impressive birdies throughout the tournament. Secondly, he was mostly at par, made only six bogeys and one double-bogey as well.
He covered the average driving distance of 279.1, at the RBC Heritage. His accuracy was 66.1% and he played well on the fast greens.
Johnson is the runner-up of the PGA Tour event, as he scored a 9-under 275 and was five strokes behind the leader. The American shot 71, 68, 66 and 70 in the four rounds.
He impressed all his fans by making 18 birdies, covering average driving of 273.0 and 75.0% accuracy. However, Pettersson's performance on Friday and Saturday was unmatchable.
Pettersson also has a trend, he wins a PGA Tour event after almost two years. Except in 2005, he recorded wins in 2006, 2008, 2010 and 2012.
