The Catalan manager, Tito Vilanova, received good news as his club captain, Carles Puyol, is finally back in training after having a knee surgery during the summers.
Last season Barcelona did not only lose their chances of winning the Spanish La Liga and the UEFA Champions League; in fact, they also lost one of the best managers in their history, Josep Guardiola.
The Catalan coach joined Barcelona back in 2008 and since then he helped them lift 14 trophies under his tenure.
However, last season he decided to part ways with the club, after failing to achieve the same success which he did during the past seasons.

However, it wasn’t because of Villa that Barcelona suffered during the season. In fact, it was because of their defender, Eric Abidal, who was diagnosed with liver tumour.
Eric Abidal missed out on the rest of the season after he received the bad news and after that it was http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Gerard-c14664 Pique often got injured as well.
Since the Spanish giants were having defensive problems, right at the end of the campaign, two of their most consistent defensive players, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Carles-Puyol-c8331, received respective injuries and were unable to continue.
While Alves broke his collarbone, Carles Puyol had a knee problem and he had to go under the knife.
After the surgery, Puyol missed out Spain’s Euro 2012 triumph and now Barcelona have finally heard the good news about him returning to the training.
Even though Puyol will not be fit enough to play in a match for now, he is still an asset to have in the team and after having http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jordi-Alba-c19111 in the line-up, the Spanish giants currently have all the players available to start the new season.
The club’s official website read a statement which said:
"The captain trained apart from the rest of the squad in the group's penultimate session before they fly out to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Germany-c2904 on Tuesday for their first pre-season friendly against Hamburg."
