Carles Puyol furious over the accusations filed against his team by Jose Mourinho- La Liga news
Barcelona’s skipper, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Carles-Puyol-c8331, has lashed out at Jose Mourinho following the accusations drawn against his team in the aftermath of El Clasico. The incident took place during the first leg of their UEFA Champions League semi-final against Real Madrid,
which the Catalan giants won by a 2-0 margin.
Madrid boss, Jose Mourinho, accused Barcelona of having contacts inside the federation as well as with UNICEF, their sporting partners. He also pointed fingers at the credibility of Barcelona tactician, Josep Guardiola, whom he thought could not win everything
on frequent basis unless he has some support from inside.
Puyol expressed his frustration following the comments made by the Portuguese which has also earned Mourinho a five-match ban. The defender declined to talk upon the ban slapped by the UEFA but wanted Mourinho to behave like a man and learn to accept defeats.
The http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Spain-c3011 International clearly stated that none of Barcelona players are impressed with the harsh remarks passed on by the Portuguese. He also played down the rivalry between the two sides, saying that it was just a game of football and one team had to
loose, if it was Madrid on that day then Mourinho should have accepted it manfully.
He added that those comments did not have any effect on the morale of his side and they are even more focused ahead of the final against Manchester United. Both teams will lock heads on Saturday, May 28, at Wembley Stadium.
Puyol then talked about his team’s upcoming match against RCD Espanyol and said that it’s going to be a huge game and a win there would bring them one step closer towards the title. He confirmed that his team are ready for that game and would go all out
in order to close doors upon their rivals, Real Madrid, who are eight points adrift.
He also hailed his team-mate Eric Abidal, who made a speedy recovery from his Liver tumour surgery and was back on the pitch during the semi-final’s second leg. He told that the Frenchman would most probably be there in the final and wished him all the very
best.
He concluded, "It's incredible what he has done."Only with his strength could he have come out of the situation. I think he will be in the final."
Barcelona are top of the League table with 88 points and a win over Espanyol would leave them needing just one more point before they could be called champions.
