http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38604 are currently not only the favourites to win the Spanish La Liga, but also the European competition, the UEFA Champions League.
Currently, the Spanish giants are 11 points above their arch-rivals, Real Madrid, and 6 points above the second-placed Atletico Madrid.
Since La Blaugrana have already stretched their lead at the top of La Liga, there is no doubt that they have become the favourites to win the prestigious domestic Spanish league.
Moreover, La Blaugrana are also the favourites to win the European competition, UEFA Champions League.
Since the past few seasons, Barcelona have been managing to reach at least the semi-final stage of the tournament and they have always been the team to beat.
While playing under their former coach, Josep Guardiola, Barcelona were considered as one of the best teams in not only the world but also in the history of football.
However, since now they are playing under a new coach, they are not expected to perform in the same manner.
The Catalan giants have taken the best start in the history of La Liga; but they are still to impress in the European competition.
The club captain, Carles Puyol, stated that he does not fear any team in the European competition but still believes that Milan are the ones he finds as an intriguing opponents, a team he personally admires.
While speaking about the upcoming Round of 16 in the prestigious tournament, Puyol said:
“We do not care who our next rival is. However, you know that I like to play against Milan, as they are a team that I admire.”
“Until we play those games there is still a long way to go and we need to keep doing our own work.”
“In addition, it could be that a team that is stronger now will not be as strong then, and the other way around.”
“For now we have to focus on the League and Cup.”
Barcelona can be drawn with any non-Spanish team which has finished second in its respective UEFA Champions League group.
