Carles Puyol suffers a knee injury
Tests taken by Barcelona’s medical staff have revealed that Barcelona captain, Carles Puyol, is suffering from tendonitis.
The Catalan captain has been performing extraordinarily well for the Barcelona team this season and has led the team in 23 games.

Gerard Pique and Carles Puyol always featured as the first-choice centre backs throughout the tournament and that was the reason why the two of them barely got any rest as the Spanish La Liga resumed after the FIFA World Cup 2010.
With Carles Puyol returning from international services, the Barcelona boss Josep Guardiola made sure that the club captain is rested so that he does not suffer any injury. However, the Catalan centre back took a knock just before the game against Rubin
Kazan in the UEFA Champions League group stages.
However, the team still won the game and his services were not really missed.
Both centre backs took turns while resting as the Frenchman, Eric Abidal, featured in the centre back position with the Brazilian full back http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Maxwell-c25051 playing on the left back position.
During the weekend game against Racing Santander, Guardiola decided to rest http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Gerard-c14664 Pique and played Carles Puyol. However, the Catalan captain took a knock and was replaced by Pique later on during the game.
Gerard Pique took his position on the field after the first half. With Carles Puyol suffering from a knee injury, the Catalans are now missing two of their first team players – Daniel Alves and Carles Puyol.
With both these two players out, the Spanish Champions will definitely find it difficult at the back as both of them are first choice defenders – Daniel Alves being a right back and Carles Puyol being a centre back.
The Spanish club’s doctors are still treating the injury in Barcelona and the availability of the player is still not decided.
For now, Carles Puyol is going to be missing out on a few training sessions and after three days he is going to return to the gym and is going to work on his left knee, away from the first team players training outside in the Ciueste Esportivo.
With Puyol and Daniel Alves out, Josep Guardiola will have to play Adriano on the right and Maxwell on the left as Eric Abidal and Gerard Pique are the first choice centre backs for the Catlaan club at the moment.
However, Barcelona are definitely going to suffer at the back as they have only conceded 6 goals since the past 14 games that they have played.
