Carling Cup: Manchester United v Wolves half time report
Manchester United 0 Wolves 0
Manchester United and Wolves are goalless at half time in the Carling Cup fourth round.
Hardly any decent chances were created as both sides cancelled each other out, and quite honestly, it wasn’t the best a football match has to offer so far.
There were no doubts United manager Sir Alex Ferguson was going to make changes, but the biggest surprise on the team sheet was that of third-choice ‘keeper Ben Amos, making only his second appearance for the club.
It took nearly 20 minutes for the first shot to hit the target, and even that was a half chance. It came through Federico Macheda of United, but the young Italian didn’t cause any problems for Wolves ‘keeper Wayne Hennessey.
Wolves had efforts from corners but failed to put Amos under any real pressure. They did keep the ball better than United did, but both sides found it difficult to create opportunities.
United are chasing a third league cup in a row having won the competition in three of the last five seasons, while Wolves are chasing their first win at Old Trafford in over 30 years.
