Carling Cup Match Report: Arsenal 0 vs 1 Manchester City – Part 1
Arsenal took on Manchester City at the Emirates in the Carling cup quarter finals, in a game that was going to be a real test for both the teams involved.
Arsenal had been on a brilliant run of form over the course of the last few weeks and were looking to prove their worth against a rampant City.
However, with the Gunners looking to field an under par squad and with City looking to use some of their first team players, it seemed like it was only a matter of time before the Gunners lost out, to a more experienced City side.
The match kicked off with both teams taking the game to each other and really proving to be a real test for the other team.
In the 10th minute of the game, the first chance of the game was created by Manchester City. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Adam-Johnson-c3537 went on to cut past Miquel and then tried to take a shot at goal from a very narrow angel. Despite the winger’s best efforts, his shot ended
up sailing wide of the mark.
In the 12th minute of the game, Arsenal crafted their first opening of the game. Coquelin went on to whip in a low cross and Park managed to make a darting run to connect with the ball. However, the striker just couldn’t find a way past the keeper,
who pulled off a brilliant save to keep his side in the game.
In the 28th minute, it was all Arsenal once again. Oxlade-Chamberlain was the player to take a pop at goal and despite the player’s shot appearing to be destined for the top corner, it was somehow kept out by the goal keeper once again.
Following that chance, both the teams failed to create any notable opening in the game and the referee soon blew his whistle to signal the end of the first half. Going into the break, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429 seemed to be the much more comfortable side of the two and seemed
intent on getting a positive result from the game.
