Carling Cup Match Report: Wolverhampton Wanderers vs Manchester City – Part 1
Manchester City took on Wolverhampton Wanderers in the Carling Cup, in order to try and make their way into the quarter final stage of the competition.
Going into the game, City were looking to be on top of things, as the side had just destroyed Manchester United this past weekend and were looking to maintain that form, as they headed into their game.
On the other hand, despite http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Wolves-c40952 picking up a win in the Premier League this past weekend, they seemed to be feeling the pressure even before the match had kicked off.
The match kicked off in rather unpredictable fashion; as the home side went on to dominate the early minutes of the game. Wolves were on top of things and it seemed like City just couldn’t respond to the pressure that was being placed on their shoulders.
In the 18th minute, Wolves went on to score the opening goal of the game via Milijas. Vokes sprinted forward and then went on to play a ball back to Milijas, who then went on to blast his effort into the back of the net.
Following the goal, City turned the tempo up, as they looked to show Wolves just what they were made of. After a few minutes of fathering their nerves, City went on to score three goals in the span of three and a half minutes.
In the 37th minute, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Adam-Johnson-c3537 instead of taking a shot. Johnson then smacked the ball
into the far corner and in doing so, scored the equalizing goal for City.
In the 39th minute, City attacked the Wolves goal once again, as they looked to try and take advantage of the tempo that they had built in the game. Johnson went on to pick out http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Samir-Nasri-c32360 with a brilliantly placed pass and the midfielder received
the ball before slotting a fine finish into the back of the net. In doing so, Nasri gave City the two goals to one lead in the game.
In the 40th minute, It was Johnson once again who was at the heart of things. The attacker went on to cross in another perfect delivery into the box and this time around his pass was turned over the line by Dzeko, after Scapuzzi’s effort was initially
parried away by the keeper.
Both the teams soon headed into the half time break, with City looking to be the far happier side on the night.
