Carling Cup Match Report: Wolverhampton Wanderers vs Manchester City – Part 2
In the second half, City came onto the pitch and seemed to continue from exactly where they had left off. The visiting side was running the show once again and it seemed like all the early dominance that Wolves had shown was worth nothing in the end.
In the 50th minute, Kolarov went on to make a surging run down the left flank and with no player looking to stop the player, he went on to cut a pass back to Nasri. The Frenchman then took a pop at goal, only to see his effort get denied by the
keeper. However, Scapuzzi was present at the right place, in order to turn the ball over the line and to give City the four goals to one lead in the game.
In the 64th minute, things seemed to be over, but City continued their rampant runs forward. Nasri and Dzeko combined with some brilliant passes, before they had to play Scapuzzi with a pass in order to avoid losing the ball. The City youngster
then went on t o receive the ball, but instead of fumbling over it, went on to tee up Dzeko with a pin point delivery, as the Bosnian turned another effort into the back of the net. As a result, City were now leading by five goals to one and at this point,
it seemed like the team was just looking to score as many goals as possible.
In the 65th minute, there was a slight lapse from City, as they allowed http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Wolves-c40952 to score a second goal on the night. O’Hara came onto the pitch as a substitute and within minutes of coming on, he sprinted towards the City goal after receiving a
pass from Ward and turned the ball into the goal with a smart finish.
Nonetheless, despite the goal from O’Hara, the game was already over and City were now more than happy to just stroke the ball around and run the clock out.
Soon after the referee blew the whistle to signal the end of the game and in doing so, ensured City a spot in the quarter final stage of the tournament, as City looked to go all the way and potentially lift the Carling Cup this time around.
