Carling Cup Preview: West Brom vs Manchester City - City scheduled to travel to West Brom

West Brom are all set to preparing themselves, to take on the high flying Manchester City at home, for tonight's Carling Cup match. Head coach of the team Roberto Di Matteo who has been a former Chelsea player, is expected
to make some changes to his Premier League side that crushed Birmingham this past weekend.
The manager Di Matteo, believes in regulating his team for midweek games, so that the players get a decent amount of rest before the weekend’s Premier League matches. Last time around the manager made eleven changes to his
Carling Cup side, when compared to the Premier League team that played earlier in the same week. He is however expected to be far less risky this time around and take a less dramatic approach to the game.
Former West Brom defender Appleton reflected on the team’s upcoming match and was reported to have said: "It's another opportunity for some of the lads that played at Leyton Orient to stake a claim.
"I think you can obviously expect some changes against Manchester City.
"I don't think there will be as many as there were against Orient.
"But it's an opportunity for the head coach to use his squad.
"I think we have a few more bodies in the squad than we did last season and the season before.
"There are also a couple of lads bruised and battered from the weekend because, with it being a derby, there was a bit more in it than some of the other games.''
In some rather shocking news, Shay Given is finally set to make a first team appearance for the team. The goal keeper has been second choice behind Joe Hart so far this season and will be playing in his first game this term.
City will however not be turning to too many youngsters for tonight’s game. The team is in desperate hunt for some silverware, having not won any for over thirty years. Roberto Mancini is staying quiet on what team he is
going to be fielding, since a number of players on the City side, will have to pass late medical tests in order to be considered to be fit for the match.
Experts have a very varying opinion on what might happen in tonight’s match. Some experts say that City will go on to crush West Brom, while the other say that West Brom are in line to pull off a shock result in the Carling
Cup to add to the growing frustrations of Manchester City. However everyone will just have to wait and see to find out what will really happen in tonight's match.
What can be said with assurance is that the match will be a viewing spectacle with both the teams, coming off some impressive victories over the weekend in the Premier League and feeling like they can continue their hot streak
in tonight's Carling Cup match.
