Carling Cup goal summary – Chelsea vs Fulham
Chelsea played host to Fulham at the Stamford Bridge in what is being hailed as one of the most entertaining games of the Carling Cup so far.
The game went into overtime and then penalties, but despite that fact, almost everyone has gone ahead and agreed with the fact that the game provided some solid entertainment.
The Blues dominated the early minutes of the game, but failed to find the back of the net. In the second half, Alex picked up a red card and despite that fact, Fulham just couldn’t seem to find a way past the resilient Chelsea.
In the end, Chelsea managed to beat the Cottagers via a penalty shootout and ensured their spot in the next round of the Carling Cup.
The match started with Chelsea taking the game to Fulham and creating a number of chances early on in the game. Despite that fact, the inexperienced Chelsea strike force couldn’t find the cutting edge in front of goal and hence the half time break saw both
teams going into the break at nil all.
The second half kicked off in dramatic fashion as Alex was shown a red card in the 48th minute, for a late tackle in the area. Despite it appearing like the referee could have made do with just a yellow, he decided to hand the Brazilian a red
and reduce Chelsea down to ten men.
Kasami stepped up to take the spot kick, but his effort went on to beat the keeper, but came back off the post and hence a very good chance was wasted by Fulham.
The match then settled down significantly and with both sides cancelling each other out, headed into a penalty shootout.
During the spot kicks, Lampard and Dembele both missed their penalties. However, Malouda went on to make it 4-3 in Chelsea favour during the shootout and with Ruiz hitting the bar with his effort, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 managed to edge past their opponents into the next
