Carlo Ancelotti: Frank Lampard likely to return against Liverpool
Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti says midfielder Frank Lampard should return to action in the match against Liverpool this weekend.
Lampard has been out of action because of a troubling groin injury. He has not played any part in the club's last 11 games in all competitions. However, Ancelotti has confirmed that he is back in training
and progressing well.
"Lampard started training with the team last week.
I don't think he will be ready for Wednesday [Champions League] but for the next game in the Premier League against Liverpool," said the Chelsea boss.
This will be a huge boost to Chelsea despite the fact the club hasn't really suffered in Lampard's absence. The experienced Premier League player will inject even more
quality into the team.
A big boost
Lampard is one of the players in the Chelsea midfield who makes everything tick. He has the ability to control the central areas, which allows the more creative players
to attack at will.
He's played over 300 times for the club and has acquired a great deal of experience during this period. This is experience that has been missing and will play a major part
in keeping the side calm during big encounters.
Lampard is one of the best players in the club at taking set pieces. His ability to strike the ball well in free kick and penalty situations is better than any other player
in the club and leads to many goals each season.
"I hope he will come back quickly because we need to have this kind
of player, he is a fantastic player. Now the team without Lampard is doing very well. But when he comes back I think we will have him straight into the team.
We have a lot of games, we have a game every three days and all the players will be involved," added Ancelotti.
Betting advice
The best way to bet on Lampard is backing him to score at any time in any game. There is little value in backing Chelsea for outright wins because the odds will be so short.
