Carlo Ancelotti: John Terry and Frank Lampard will be fit to face Manchester City
Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti says key duo Frank Lampard and John Terry will be fit to play Manchester City this weekend.
Lampard has been out of action for roughly a month following a hernia operation. Terry was forced to miss last Sunday's clash with Blackpool because of a rib injury.
Ancelotti said: "Frank is training, he is not 100 per cent yet. He will be able to play against Manchester City.
Terry had a problem with his ribs and was not able to play, but he should be okay in two or three days."
The strength and depth of Chelsea's squad has enabled the club to cope without the experienced duo. However, they can both add a great deal to the team for ahead of a huge
match.
Staying grounded
One thing Terry and Lampard will both do is keep the Chelsea squad grounded. The club sits four points clear at the top of the Premier League after a perfect start.
Terry and Lampard have enough combined experience to know that it will be difficult for Chelsea to maintain this form over the next few weeks. There will be a little bit
of complacency around the Chelsea dressing room and these players will stop it from affecting the team.
Lampard in particular will help hugely with Chelsea's set piece play. Every area of the team looks good at the moment but set pieces are something the side can work on.
Lampard regularly takes penalties and free kicks for Chelsea and is very effective with the dead ball.
Ancelotti added: "We will need to use all of our players.
The squad is so strong that we can change players to offer something different to the team or change the shape if we want to.
We want to show, during this season, that we can adapt to any game with any players."
Betting advice
Chelsea looks the best team in England at the moment by some distance. Back the side to win everything but the Champions League. Europe will provide a tougher test and
wait until the knock out rounds before you back Chelsea to win.
