The 53-year-old believes that Paris Saint-Germain were wasteful in front of goal against Saint-Etienne in Coupe de la Ligue for which they were punished in the end
Les Parisiens crashed out of Coupe de la Ligue following a 5-3 defeat on penalties at the hands of Saint-Etienne on Tuesday. And coach, Carlo Ancelotti believes that his side’s inability to score at Stade Geoffroy-Guichard cost them the chance to advance
in the competition.
While talking to reporters, the Italian tactician stated that despite the loss Paris Saint-Germain played really well on Tuesday, and he won’t criticise his players for that. The coach said that the Ile giants created a number of goalscoring opportunities
against Christophe Galtier’s side but were unlucky not to score a goal.
"We just couldn't score when we had the opportunities.”
The former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 manager, who was appointed the coach of the Parisiens in January, is of the view that Paris Saint-Germain were the better side of the two and they produced quality football on the pitch. The boss said that to blame the players for the
loss would be wrong and it just wasn’t their day.
“My team was good, and so was the football we produced, I have no complaints with the players.”
Ancelotti admitted that the result has saddened the lads but feels that they played really well away from home. Praising the attitude of his players, the coach said that playing consistently for 120 minutes is not easy but PSG did that pretty well.
After some less than impressive performances in recent weeks, the 53-year-old feels that this performance will help the players regain their confidence and it will only help PSG in their upcoming games.
“We're disappointed with the result but the lads carried themselves very well. We played 120 minutes of consistent and dominant football. It's a performance that gives us confidence for what’s to come.”
Ancelotti added that all that was missing from the match were goals. Neither PSG nor Saint-Etienne managed to find the back of the net and the coach feels that his side should have done better out there.
