Carlo Ancelotti and Arsene Wenger leap to Sir Alex Ferguson’s defence – EPL news
Arsenal manager, Arsene Wenger, and Chelsea boss, Carlo Ancelotti, have revealed their support for Manchester United’s Sir Alex Ferguson in the wake of his recent trouble with the FA. The Scot was once again charged with improper conduct for his comments
on referee Howard Webb prior to the crucial English Premier League encounter against Chelsea at Old Trafford.

had questioned Atkinson’s impartiality after the match.
Since that incident, Sir Alex has learned to be more careful with his words. In the build up to the all-important Premier League encounter against Chelsea at Old Trafford on May 8, he praised the appointment of Howard Webb as match referee. However, even
those remarks have landed him with an improper conduct charge.
The problem does not lie with what the United boss said. The issue is that the FA does not want managers talking about referees at all prior to the match. The fact that action is being taken against Ferguson for his innocuous comments seems ridiculous to
Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti.
The Italian said, "I think he spoke positively about Howard Webb. I don't think he tried to put pressure on the referee before the game and I am surprised about this.”
Though Arsene Wenger shares his counterpart’s views, he took the opportunity to poke fun at his old nemesis. He is entitled to have that opinion. To me, it doesn't look to be a major problem to say that somebody is good. I would not charge him for that."
Manchester United need just one more point from their final two matches to be crowned the Premier League champions for the 2010/11 season.
