The Paris Saint-Germain coach has admitted that the team still needs a lot of time to shine in the Champions League and was satisfied with the nervy win against Stade de Reims on Saturday
Always happy to have a word with the media, Carlo Ancelotti took some time out of his busy schedule to discuss how the club’s progress is going on these days.
The Italian tactician’s side beat newly-promoted Stade de Reims 1-0 at home in a game which could have gone either way had the visitors been more clinical in front of goal from the limited chances they were given.
However, despite an unconvincing win, Ancelotti is satisfied to see PSG lead the Ligue 1 summit level on points with archrivals, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 manager admitted
that his side was not well prepared for the game against Hubert Fournier’s men due to international break but said that the performance was much better in the second half.
“We did not have time to prepare for this match, with players out with their national teams. And then we had a lot of injuries, Sissoko was sick. The goal was to improve the game and identity. The first half was not good against Reims, but the second was
good.”
And, the club’s defence is still holding steady. Against Reims, topscorer, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Kevin-Gameiro-c20721 snatch a winner which clearly shows that there are other players in
the team who can score as well.
With Champions League football set to return this week, Paris Saint-Germain know that they have to quickly move on from their previous European defeat to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/FC-Porto-c39186. And, Ancelotti admits that his side is still not strong enough to be very competitive in the
European circuit.
“We’re not a team strong enough to be very competitive in the Champions League. We lost against Porto but it serves as a good experience, because most of our players have not known the Champions League. I hope we do good things in the Champions League,”
concluded the Italian.
