Carlo Ancelotti clarifies that Ashley Cole not leaving and Fernando Torres not coming
The Italian Carlo Ancelotti has cleared out the situation that is causing much of the football world to speculate anxiously of what will happen to some of the best players on the football field today.
He has clarified the situation of the 29 year old defender Ashley Cole and the 26 year old ace striker from Liverpool, Fernando Torres saying that neither will Cole be leaving the club and nor will Torres be coming.
Ancelotti has elucidated that their star left back Ashley Cole will remain at Stamford Bridge for the next season stating that rumours about his predicted move at Bernabeu are nothing more than a rainless cloud.
He explained that though Jose Mourinho, the new manger of Real Madrid had made a bid for England’s international player but there was no possibility of Chelsea getting rid of their valued player.
Cole was not the only Chelsea player that was bid for by Mourinho. His list included top players from all top notch clubs in the world as he attempts to put together the ultimate “dream team” for the starting season.
The players that made the list from the Premier League winning team Chelsea were Frank Lampard, Ashley Cole and Didier Drogba. So far it seems none of these candidates are willing to leave the club for Real.
Ancelotti also explicated on the Torres issue that he will no longer be coming to Chelsea. He explained that though Chelsea had earlier showed a lot of interest in the world class Spanish striker but his proneness to injuries and his current lack of performance has degraded his values, which comes as a surprise to no one.
The Spanish star had a confounding season at Anfield. His season was marred by poor performance and injuries but still in the end he managed 22 goals in 32 appearances. However in the FIFA 2010 World Cup his performance took a very bad turn when he was demoted from the starting line up and brought in as a substitution.
Torres did later reveal that he had entered South Africa with injuries from which he had not healed properly yet. In the final against Spain he was brought in as a substitute and in the last moments of the match he tore the muscles in his thigh and is out of action again for at least 3 weeks.
His current manger at the Reds, Roy Hodgson, has given Torres a couple of days to make a final decision if he wants to stay loyal to Liverpool or not.
Cole on the other hand has mentioned doubts over his career at Chelsea at times. He is still on holidays from the 2010 World Cup and therefore has been unable to take part in the pre seasonal matches. Chelsea just recently had a match against Crystal Palace which they won 1-0.
Ancelotti has expressed that he is sure that the former player of Arsenal will stay with the Blues as he is still under contract with them and has not mentioned any desire to quit the club. He also stated that a player like Cole is a key component of his team and will play an important role as they defend their Premier League title this season.
While talking to media, Ancelotti linked the Real Madrid move with Cole saying, “I didn't speak with him, I don't need to speak with him and he doesn't need to speak to me”.
He added, “He is a player of Chelsea, did a fantastic season for us and will be an important player for us next season. One hundred per cent”.
On Torres the manager told that though the club were taking the player pretty serious back then and had proposed a 50 million pound deal for the contract but now they have withdrawn their offer as the Chelsea board is no longer interested in him.
Ancelotti praised his current forwards saying that the club was not in a desperate need to sign in new players as they already have the services of superb players like Nicolas Anelka, Salomon Kalou, Daniel Sturridge along with Didier Drogba.
The Chelsea manager stated, “I don't think we need other strikers, nothing has changed because in the next days come back Drogba, Anelka and Kalou and we have Sturridge”.
