Carlo Ancelotti considers youngsters ahead of Blackburn clash
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Michael-Essien-c25294.
The Italian manager said he would have no problem replacing the experienced, but underperforming players in hopes the younger players would provide a better result.
He admitted he had doubts selecting the squad for when the Rovers visit Stamford Bridge. He said, “I have some doubts for the selection, doubts up front and also in midfield”.
The Blues are currently at fifth place in the Premier League, having only secured 10 points out of a possible 33 in their last few fixtures.
They have been ruled out of the race for the Premier League crown, however, if the Blues plan on playing Champions League football next season they have to secure a place in the top four.
That does not seem possible at this point, a Blues revival seemed to have started with the 7-0 thrashing of Ipswich Town in the FA Cup but it must not be forgotten that Ipswich are in 20th place in the championship.
Ancelotti admitted McEachran and Sturridge’s performance in the FA Cup was one of the reasons why he was considering the two for a start in the Premier League fixture.
He said, “This is maybe the reason. There were very important performances, so I have to take them into consideration. McEachran is ready to start in the Premier League. He has confidence, personality, is strong. You can look at him and think he won’t be
strong in the tackle, but he was against Ipswich. He doesn’t lack anything. He’s a good player, so we are lucky”.
The 17 year old McEachran in particular has impressed the Chelsea boss with his recent performances, so much so that Ancelotti is confident to start him in a Premier League game.
The youngster has displayed maturity beyond his years with quick pace, accurate passes and the ability to read the game.
The Italian tactician has faith in McEachran and is confident that if need be he can fill in for holding midfielder Michael Essien, who has not been up to his best this season like most of the senior Chelsea players.
Ancelotti has made the right decision to feature younger players, he’s taking the initiative to introduce younger players into the first team, something which was unheard of previously at Stamford Bridge.
However, right now might not be the right time for that, especially against decent opposition like Blackburn http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Rovers-c40385. It’s probable that Ancelotti will stick to the more experienced players for this fixture. But Sturridge may be rewarded with a chance after
an excellent performance in the FA Cup.
