Carlo Ancelotti, the boss of Chelsea, was extremely pleased to finally have a win in 8 games in the Premier League. Chelsea beat Bolton 1-0 at Stamford Bridge to end their barren run, and the manager believes that the win means that they are still alive
and kicking in the title race.
Chelsea were made to work extremely hard by a resilient Bolton team at home; it also ended the worst run by the Champions in 11 years. The win moved them to within four points of their title rivals, Manchester United, even though Chelsea has played a game
more.
Ancelotti said that the win was integral for his team’s morale. He added that losing or drawing a string of games is never good for any team. But especially a team that is looking to defend the title, it is not at all healthy to have such a long break between
victories. The Italian chose his words carefully and made sure that he did not indicate that his team is back to its best.
The former AC Milan boss said that a win is certainly a small step in the right direction, and now his team can build from that and get their title bid back on track. He went on to say that his team just needs to get back some confidence, as the skill and
motivation have always been there.

It was just seven weeks ago when Chelsea were going strong and sitting on top of the table, 5 points clear of Manchester United.
But the dramatic dip in form and lack of wins meant that his job had also come under a cloud, and many had already started asking questions. The win, though, would probably ease some pressure on him and he may finally be able to breathe easy for a while.
After the 1-0 win, though, there still were some questions over the winning goal for Chelsea. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Florent-Malouda-c13838 for the goal, seemed to be in an off side position. However, the referee seemed to have missed that and as
a result Chelsea got the precious goal.
Ancelotti said that he did not have another look at the goal. He said that if Drogba was off side it was not his fault that it was not called. He added that players are advised to play to the whistle and that is precisely what he did. Chelsea boss added
that Bolton played well and used the typical long ball approach, but his backline did well to hold them off.
The Blue’s boss said that his team did look a bit nervous in the first half and did play a few misplaced passes. He said that it was only down to the extra pressure his team was under due to the string of draws and defeats. Ancelotti went on to say that
it was evident that his team played a lot better in the 2nd half, and that was because they had got the measure of Bolton by then.
Owen Coyle, the manager of Bolton, on the other hand, was understandably upset with the Referee after the match. Coyle was adamant that the goal should not have stood and the Referee did not do his job. However Coyle was happy with his team’s performance
and said that his players showed excellent grit and determination to play such a tough match against the defending champions.
