Carlo Ancelotti delighted to see Napoli progress in the Champions League
Former A.C Milan manager, Carlo Ancelotti, is delighted to see Napoli’s progress in the last 16 round of the UEFA Champions League.
Walter’s Mazzarri’s men finished runners-up in the Group A and became one of the three Italian teams to qualify for the next round along with A.C Milan and Inter Milan. Ancelotti is delighted to see three teams from Serie A qualifying
to the knockout stage and believes that it is no surprise to him.
While talking to the reporters, Ancelotti said, "We were never donkeys before, just as we are not horses now. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Inter-c39567, Milan and Napoli have done really well to qualify, but now comes the fun [the last 16].”
Despite their dominance in the competition in the past, Italian teams have struggled in the Champions League in the recent years and as a result UEFA have taken away the fourth team spot from them.
The former Chelsea manager heaped praise on the Napoli players and believes that they did a great job. The 52-year-old believes that finishing ahead of Manchester City in the group is not an easy http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Job-c18684. The Blues have had a tremendous
2011/12 season in the Premier League and they currently lead the league table and are yet to taste a defeat in the domestic circuit.
The former A.S http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Napoli-c40003’s progress is a great signal for Italian football and it is proved that a team which was struggling five or six years back can make such a great development.
“[Walter] Mazzarri’s boys were great. To eliminate a Manchester City side who are dominating in the Premier League was not a simple thing. Congratulations! It is great that Italian football has found a place once again for a team
like Napoli.” added the former Milan boss
The Partenopei side was playing in the Serie C in 2005 and they made rapid steps in Italian football to qualify for the Champions League after 21 years. Ancelotti is hoping that they will continue their good form and will progress
further in the competition. They might be drawn against the giants of Real Madrid, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786.
