Carlo Ancelotti forced to deal with new Lampard injury
Carlo Ancelotti’s job of salvaging Chelsea’s season just got more difficult. Reports have emerged that Frank Lampard has suffered a new injury, forcing him to cut short a training session with the Blues.
The midfielder had just recently returned to the squad after recovering from a hernia operation. Now it seems that Lampard will have to be sidelined once again, putting a big dent in Chelsea’s title ambitions this season.
The extent of Lampard’s latest injury will be assessed by the Chelsea medical staff on Thursday. However, the midfielder will almost certainly be unavailable for Chelsea’s match against Bolton Wanderers next week.

However, Chelsea now face the prospect of losing their talismanic midfielder for an extended period, forcing manager Carlo Ancelotti to look to the reserves team to solve his midfield dilemmas. Ancelotti is considering the option of using youngster Josh
McEachran in Lampard’s place. The 17-year-old looks set to make a rare start for the Blues when they travel to the Reebok Stadium on Monday.
Ancelotti will be hoping that Lampard’s calf problem is not too serious. Chelsea already faced an uphill battle in their bid to retain the Barclays Premier League title this season, and the absence of Frank Lampard will make their task that much harder.
