Carlo Ancelotti happy with Fernando Torres’ performance at Chelsea – Premier League update
Chelsea manager, Carlo Ancelotti, has expressed his over http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Fernando-Torres-c13707’ performance despite the player’s barren run in front of the goal since joining Chelsea.
“Torres didn't score but I don't ask my strikers to score. I ask them to play for the team. Torres did a very good job with that. People judge him on the goals he scored but I have to look at different things about his performance. He worked for the team, put pressure on the defenders, moved well in front and worked hard,” said Ancelotti.
Chelsea signed Fernando Torres from Liverpool for a British record fee of £50 million on the deadline day of January transfer window. The Spanish striker has played four games in Chelsea colours but has failed to score in any game.
The 26-year-old striker hailed the support shown by his manager and admitted that he needs time to settle at the club. Torres said, “It's important to understand the style of football your team is playing, how you are involved in the system and everything…I think when you make a decision this important you must be sure you can do it, otherwise it's not worth moving to a club like Chelsea.”
Torres made his Chelsea debut against his former club http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809, a match which the Blues lost by one goal. The Spanish striker started the match but was not at his best which forced Ancelotti to substitute him in the 70th minute.
El Nino’s second game in a http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 shirt was a draw at Fulham and once again the 26-year-old attacker failed to impress. However, Torres played a vital role in Chelsea’s UEFA Champions League away victory at FC Copenhagen. Even though, the former Liverpool striker did not score he had a tremendous assist Anelka for one of the two goals.
Torres has an amazing record against Manchester United; He has scored in almost every match against the Red Devils. The striker led Chelsea’s attack in the recent win over Manchester United but he looked completely out of depth and once again failed to open his Chelsea account.
Carlo Ancelotti feels that his new striker will need time to find his fluent best form and claims that Torres will start firing goals in the near future.
