The Paris Saint-Germain coach is a pleased man in town after seeing Les Parisiens register a comfortable 2-0 over their archrivals http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Olympique-de-Marseille-c40127 in Coupe de la Ligue
The cash-laden club from Paris showed why they are the club to look out for with a stunning display last night at Parc des Princes. Although it wasn’t a league match and several key players were missing from the side, Les Parisiens put in an impressive performance
to seal a place in the quarter final stages of the competition.
And coach, Carlo Ancelotti is happy with Paris Saint-Germain’s fringe players, who got a chance to show their worth in Coupe de la Ligue, and they have certainly repaid the faith shown in them by the Italian tactician.
While talking to reporters after the game, the 53-year-old stated that Coupe de la Ligue is a good competition for players who aren’t playing regularly and they did well against the Rhone giants at Parc des Princes. It was a professional performance from
the Parisiens and Ancelotti is pleased with that.
"The players who have not played much had a good match," the 53-year-old said.
The former Milan coach added that players’ attitude was great on the pitch and they played with a lot of confidence. It was a tough game and the coach feels that PSG reaped the reward of playing aggressive football with a place in the next round of Coupe
de la Ligue.
"(They played) with a good attitude and were in good condition, there was a lot of aggression, I am happy. Everyone knows the importance of this game and Marseille showed a lot of intensity, even if it was harder after the red card.”
On a question regarding his decision to rest Ibrahimovic, Ancelotti said that the Swede wasn’t feeling well and he needed rest.
"Ibra was not sure to be 100 percent, he had played 14 consecutive matches, he had to recharge.”
The coach is pleased with Javier Pastore’s form and believes that the Argentine international has regained his confidence.
“(Pastore) was better and he made a fantastic pass to Menez; he is improving and there is more confidence."
