Carlo Ancelotti hints at Drogba-Torres partnership against Manchester United – EPL news
Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti has revealed that he might put http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Didier-Drogba-c11044 upfront against Manchester United. Both United and Chelsea are due to lock horns on Sunday, May 08 at Old Trafford. The game holds immense importance for both
sides as a win for United would leave them six points clear of the Blues while a Chelsea win would put them on top of the table based on superior goal difference.
Ancelotti admitted that Torres has taken a bit longer than expected to fit in Chelsea colours but was confident that the Spaniard could make United pay at the back. While talking about Drogba-Torres partnership, the Italian mentioned that both were quite
impressive against Tottenham Hotspur and exhibited some great combination and skills. He was delighted to see the partnership working and this has encouraged him to go with the same combination in what could be a ‘do or die’ tie for Chelsea.
Torres joined Chelsea during the winter transfer window for a record 50 Million Pounds but the striker has struggled to find his feet at Stamford Bridge. He only opened his account for the Blues in Chelsea’s 3-0 win over West Ham United where he came on
as a substitute in the 76th minute and found the back of the net in the 84th minute. He then followed it with an assist for http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786’s third goal. So far the striker has made 10 League appearances for the Blues
and has only one goal under his belt, which really doesn’t justify his 50 Million Pounds price tag.
Ancelotti believed that Torres could do wonders with Drogba up front but insisted that the final decision will be taken at the end of the training session.
The 51-year-old concluded, "We did our job [against Tottenham], to stay three points behind Manchester United. That's fantastic. Our job was to win, we won and now our next job is to prepare well for Manchester United."
Chelsea’s victory in their last game against Spurs has left them just three points short of the Red Devils and both teams will put their skills on show when they lock horns on Sunday.
It remains to be seen whether the title is once again heading towards Stamford Bridge or will it come to Old Trafford for the record 19th time
