The arrival of Carlo Ancelotti as the new coach of Paris Saint-Germain has certainly changed the club’s footballing philosophy. Many current player’s future at the club is under intense scrutiny and they could be certain of getting shown the exit doors come
the summer transfer window if their performances don’t improve.
However, Mathieu Bodmer is one of the surprising exceptions to this case. In Ancelotti’s first four games in charge as PSG coach, the Frenchman has made three starts and the former Caen has showed signs of rapid improvement under the former AC Milan manager.
Brilliant against Stade Brestois on Saturday, Bodmer could have scored one of the goals of the season had his volley not hit the crossbar. Usually deployed as the defensive midfielder in Ancelotti’s Christmas tree formation, the 29-year-old Bodmer has also
shown himself to be quite a capable attacking player.
“Bodmer played very well. He is a good player. I like when defensive midfielders when they can pass and have good solutions,” said Carlo Ancelotti while talking about Bodmer’s performance in the 1-0 win over Brest in a Ligue 1 encounter on Saturday.
Often criticised during the first half of the season for his minimum physical impact and a nonchalant style of play, Bodmer has transformed into an asset for the team.

Many people feel that Ancelotti is looking to thrust Bodmer into the mould of Andrea Pirlo (during his time as the manager of AC Milan).
Under Antoine Kombouare, Bodmer was often ignored and was a luxury the former coach could not afford to take. However, Ancelotti might have changed all this and could use the former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Olympique-Lyonnais-c40130 man as his deep-lying playmaker at least until the end
of the current campaign.
