Following his team’s dismal second half performance in a 1-1 draw against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/AJ-Auxerre-c38247, PSG coach Carlo Ancelotti has lashed out at his players who he feels let slip a glorious opportunity
Following Montpellier’s defeat at the hands of Lorient, onus was on Paris Saint-Germain to beat Auxerre in Burgundy in order to go level on points with the league leaders.
The game against Auxerre got off to a good start for PSG who took the lead through Nene courtesy a great pass from http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jeremy-Menez-c18345. However, Paris Saint-Germain failed to add to their lead against an Auxerre side that is surely doomed for relegation.
Instead, it was the hosts who took the game to PSG and in the end, a http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Omar-c28540 Kossoko-inspired move was converted into a goal by Le Tallec in the final few minutes of the game. Auxerre could have even won the game.
However, a dismal performance means that PSG were lucky to come out with a point. Carlo Ancelotti was very annoyed in the press conference after the game and chose to berate his players for not being able to effectively kill a game which he feels should
have been theirs.
Ancelotti says that the team had low determination and concentration and added that in order to win the Championelle, players need to show more concentration and determination.
“I’m angry at the players. We must change quickly because we just lost a great opportunity to go top of the Championnat. I am not happy with this performance. We had the opportunity to score a second goal but we were not determined and decisive enough. After
the goal, we continued to play the same way we did in the earlier game. Tonight was not our best performance. Sufficiency is not the right attitude in football and we cannot win like that.”
The Italian manager has deemed sufficiency insufficient and is right to do so. However, many experts feel that Ancelotti tinkered way too much with the rearguard during the game which is another reason why the team let the lead slip.
Montpellier gave PSG a chance to capitalise on a slip-up but the Parisians failed to oblige and now should turn things around.
