Paris Saint-Germain coach Carlo Ancelotti now knows what defeat tastes like in France and after crashing out of the Coupe de France at the hands of Lyon, the former AC Milan manager wants to come back strong
After a series of 12 games without a defeat, Carlo Ancelotti lost his first game as coach of Paris Saint-Germain. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/France-c2899 quarterfinal last night. Again, Olympique Lyonnais started
the game too slowly before returning to the game in fine style.
However, despite seeing his side crash out of the Coupe de France, Ancelotti is not overly-worried.
“It came, this first defeat. It is very clear that we did not play well in the first half, without intensity and aggression. The second half was different but we have the opportunity to focus on the Championnat. I have no concerns but we have to win the
next game.”
With the quarterfinal defeat, Paris Saint-Germain are now left with Ligue 1 as their only hope of silverware. As things stand, Ancelotti’s men lead the Ligue 1 standings and are in a good position to win their first Ligue 1 title in over 17 years.
After elimination in all competitions (Europa League, Coupe de la Ligue and Coupe de France), PSG have no choice but to win the Championelle.
And to do that, they will have to play equally good in both halves in their next outings. Defence should be tightened. The owners have strengthened the side during the last transfer window but in the last six games, Ancelotti’s men have conceded 13 goals.
A demonstration, rather than just a reaction, is expected of the side on Sunday when they play FC Girondins de Bordeaux at the Parc des Princes.
“Now, PSG has no choice. We must win the title. It’s been seventeen years since the club was a champion. We must think only about this. It was the first defeat of Ancelotti and perhaps the last,” says Ancelotti which clearly means that the experienced Italian
tactician is surely not going to let his players rest on their laurels in the final furlong of the campaign.
