Carlo Ancelotti on Wednesday’s victory: ‘The win was a big step’
Chelsea manager, Carlo Ancelotti has expressed his relief on ending the club’s winless streak, when his team beat Bolton Wanderers on Wednesday night.
The reigning English champions defeated The Wanderers by 1-0 in the English Premier League, at Stamford Bridge in a thrilling encounter.
The home side was boosted with the return of French strike Nikolas Anelka, who was a doubt before the game.
The 1st half was a scrappy affair, as both teams did not manage to create any clear cut chances and were unable to trouble the opposition goalkeepers.

cleared by the Bolton defenders.
Later, Chelsea broke the deadlock on the hour-mark, when Drogba’s well-weighted pass was struck home by http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Florent-Malouda-c13838. The goal was a controversial one, as the African seemed to be in an offside position when the initial pass
was played onto him.
The Blues hung onto their lead until the full-time whistle and recorded their 1st win in 7 Premier League matches.
Carlo was pleased with his side’s effort on the night, but was of the opinion that the players must keep on improving if they are to retain their domestic crown.
In a post-match interview Ancelotti said, “It was important for us to win. It was an important game. We worked very hard for 90 minutes and we showed character. We came back on the counter-attack; we defended well and with confidence.
We needed to fight. We lost some passes in the first half but we were a little bit afraid. There was a lot of pressure on this game. “
The Italian also urged his side to remain focused and prepare themselves for the next game at the weekend.
He said, “Now we have to wait until the next game. The win was a big step, it will take a weight from our shoulders, but I am not sure if everything will be okay, it will depend on our next performance. It was a very difficult
period but we have to keep going, we have to keep focused on our training and on our games.”
