Carlo Ancelotti, the manager of Chelsea, is still optimistic that Chelsea can go all the way this season. Chelsea played a hard fought 3-3 draw against Aston Villa on Sunday where they were denied a win by a last gasp goal by Villa. Chelsea is now 6 points
away from top of the table and are on 5th place on the Premier League ranking.
The Blues did well to come back from 2-1 down to get the lead late in the game, but http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ciaran-Clark-c9247 broke the home team’s hearts with an injury time equaliser.
Ancelotti said that by no means is the title race over and his team can still win the league. He added that the gap at the top is getting wide but still it is not something that cannot be overturned. Ancelotti went on to say that there is plenty of time
left in the season, and his team is improving in every game and are about to hit their peak.
Chelsea, the defending champions have not been able to bring their ‘A’ game in the last 2 months or so. The Blues have just won one game in the last eight, and were finding it difficult to perform against a resilient Aston Villa side.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Emile-Heskey-c12468 gave Villa the lead. There were just minutes
left in the final whistle when http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/John-Terry-c18895 seemed to have secured a fantastic win as the whole team ran to the manager to celebrate. However the joy was short lived as Clark headed
in to make it 3-3 deep into injury time.
Had Chelsea been able to hang on to the win, it would have gone a long way towards raising the morale of the team. A win would have also narrowed the gap between them and Manchester United who lead the table. However, as it turns out, Chelsea trail the Red
Devils by 6 points and have still played a game more.
Carlo Ancelotti said that having a game in hand does give United an advantage on the table, but still they have to win their game first to get the 3 points. He later said that their match against United was called off which is virtually a 6 pointer, and
they have a great chance of beating United at Stamford Bridge. Ancelotti said that if one considers all these permutations, there is still a lot of football to be played, and anyone writing Chelsea off in the title race should think again.
While talking about the game against Villa, Ancelotti said that the away team played well and probably deserved 1 point from the game. The Italian manager added that his team showed good character and it is evident that they are moving in the right direction.
Ancelotti said:
"I'm disappointed because we worked very hard in the second half to come back into the game when 2-1 down. We did a fantastic job, we came back and scored to make it 3-2 and everyone thought the game was finished but a mistake with the last ball of the game
cost us."
