Carlo Ancelotti sacked by Chelsea – Barclays Premier League update
The inevitable has finally happened as Chelsea has finally axed manager Carlo Ancelotti a couple of hours after Chelsea lost their final league game 1-0 against Everton today.
The Italian had been under the hammer and it was expected that he would be parting company with the club after the final league game. Ancelotti had time and again said that he will not leave until he is told to do so but at the same time he would not beg
for his job.  Ancelotti had one more year left on his current contract and he will be compensated for that in terms of money.
Chelsea broke the news through an official statement which read, "This season's performances have fallen short of expectations and the club feels the time is right to make this change ahead of next season's preparations."
It is fair to say that no one in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 would be shocked to hear that news, including Ancelotti. Although the general consensus was the he had to go, there were still many who believed that he should have stayed on for another season to see Chelsea through
the rebuilding stage. The fact that this was the first trophy-less season under the ownership of Roman Abramovich did little to plead Ancelotti’s case.
After the loss against Everton, Ancelotti knew what was going to happen but he just did not want to spell it out. "I am now on holiday - but I am not sure how long my holiday will be!" he said in his final press conference shortly before he was sacked.
"We haven't arranged any meeting but I think in the next week, now the season is finished, the club can address my job and they will take a decision. I have to wait and see what happens. I don't have to say anything to the club - they can judge me on my
job for two years,” said Ancelotti.
Chelsea were the defending champions of the Premier League and the FA Cup but fell short on both fronts this time around. Manchester United may be the most hated club at Stamford Bridge right now as the Red Devils not only beat Chelsea in the Premier League
title race but also knocked them out of the Champions League at quarter-final stage by beating them in both legs.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 had started the season with a bang and in the first couple of months of the campaign many had chosen them as Champions elect. However, things went horribly wrong for the London club in the final two months of 2010, which saw them drop from the top
to fifth in the table. They were all but out of the title race by February but a good run in the last couple of months saw them get within touching distance of Manchester United. Nevertheless, a loss at Old Trafford against United ended all hopes of a dramatic
comeback in the league.  Following the 1-0 loss at Everton, Chelsea ended the season in second place, nine points behind Manchester United. Manchester City are level on points with Chelsea but the London side are ahead on goal difference.
Chelsea has made it clear that they are looking at the future of the club and current results are simply not acceptable. The Blues are expected to start their hunt for a new manager soon and will name them in the next couple of months.
