The Paris Saint-Germain coach feels that the current league leaders have a better chance of becoming French champions despite PSG’s recent return to form
Last night, Paris Saint-Germain beat AS Saint-Etienne 2-0 in a Ligue 1 encounter. Nene and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Javier-Pastore-c18082 scored a goal each to make sure that the Parisians stay in touching distance of league leaders Montpellier Herault who dropped crucial points at home
against Evian TG.
The game against Evian TG was an ill-tempered affair with the referee forced to show four players red cards. Among those players, was Moroccan international Younes Belhanda. The young midfielder has been the driving force behind La Paillade all season long
and will miss his side’s remaining three games due to suspension.
Certainly, the player’s suspension is a big blow to Rene Girard’s hopes of guiding Montpellier to their first Ligue 1 crown. La Paillade play Stade Rennais, LOSC Lille and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/AJ-Auxerre-c38247 in their final three games of the campaign and Belhanda’s absence could
prove to be fatal.
PSG on the other hand, have no such worries. Furthermore, Carlo Ancelotti’s side have shown that they are not down and out by any means. Javier Pastore, Nene and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jeremy-Menez-c18345 have returned to their usual best and it bodes well for the rest of the squad.
Though they are still three points behind the leaders, PSG’s next three games don’t look that difficult. They face Valenciennes, Rennais and Lorient and should be looking to win all those games and hope that Montpellier drop points again.
Despite this, coach Carlo Ancelotti is keeping his feet on the ground. The Italian tactician feels that though his side have put themselves in a great position, the title is still in Montpellier’s reach.
“Montpellier are more likely to be champions, but it’s not over. The Championnat will be played on the last day. Everyone said that Paris had lost the title in Lille, but we must review the calculations. Football is strange. We have three matches and we
will do everything to win them.”
Though he is still  being careful in his approach, Ancelotti knows that the race for the Championelle is not over.
