Carlo Ancelotti wants to stay in Chelsea, hints at Roma move, while Francesco Totti awaits his arrival
Chelsea boss, Carlo Ancelotti insisted he believed his future with the Blues was certain and was independent of the result of the second leg of the UEFA Champions League quarter-final against Manchester United on Tuesday.
The Italian manager is under tremendous pressure after losing to the English Premier League leaders 1-0 at Stamford Bridge in the first leg of the Champions League quarter-final, which means the Blues will now have to overturn the deficit to make it to the
semi-finals.
While a 1-0 win over Wigan Athletic in the English Premier League was sufficient to keep Ancelotti calm, it is the Champions League clash the Italian will be concerned about. To guarantee a move to the next round the Blues will have to improve their form
drastically.
In doing so, they will be required to score not one, but two goals, without conceding a single goal to make it closer to the coveted Champions League. This is undoubtedly Chelsea’s last shot at silverware this campaign, having already been eliminated from
both cup competitions earlier on in the season.
However, Ancelotti remained confident about his job at the London club. He said while speaking to reporters, “The club knows me very well, knows my behavior, and they will take their decision on that. Until now, the support is totally 100 per cent. I don't
have a problem with this.”
The former AC Milan boss has been linked with various clubs, with Serie A sides, Roma, and Inter Milan taking the lead. Ancelotti insinuated at a return to Roma, having played there as a footballer but denied any links to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Inter-c39567 Milan.
He said, “If Inter look for me? I would say no. I have a defined history and I won't go against it. My objective is to remain at http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 and next year I will coach here. But, in future yes, I could coach Roma.”
Roma recently sacked their coach, Claudio Ranieri, which leaves the hot seat at the club open for Ancelotti. The Blues boss has continuously expressed his desire to remain with Chelsea but could end up at Roma if he is forced to leave.
Meanwhile, Roma skipper http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Francesco-Totti-c13940 while speaking to media said, he was awaiting the arrival of Carlo Ancelotti. The Italian was of course referring to the statements by the Chelsea boss hinting he could manage Roma in the future.
The 34-year-old http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Roma-c31603 captain said he was looking forward to Ancelotti’s arrival at the club, he said, “He [Ancelotti] has always said he would coach Roma sooner or later, and I hope to be around when he arrives.”
