The Paris Saint-Germain coach is looking forward to the Coupe de la Ligue clash against the Rhone giants and has set his sights on getting a positive result on Wednesday
The two French giants are set to face each other in the second Clasico of the season with Coupe de la Ligue on the line this time. The first Clasico of the season ended in a 1-1 draw, and PSG coach, Carlo Ancelotti wants to change that this time around.
While talking to reporters, the 53-year-old stated that Paris Saint-Germain’s priority is to win the Ligue 1 title but doing well in the domestic cups is also on their agenda.
Talking about their Wednesday’s opponents, the Italian said that Marseille have been in fine form lately and they will provide a stern test to his side at Parc des Princes. Les Phoceens are very strong physically and their mentality is very impressive. And
the coach feels that the two teams have become fierce rivals in recent times and neither side would accept anything but a victory on Wednesday.
"Marseille are a very good team. They are physically strong, have a lot of character, and a strong mentality. It's a team that will want to beat us because we are becoming fierce rivals and it's the same for us - we want to win.”
Ancelotti added that in the last Clasico, Paris Saint-Germain could have won the game had they been more consistent on the pitch. However, the coach is taking nothing for granted and is looking forward to the Coupe de la Ligue clash.
”In the last game we played against them, with a little bit more consistency, we could have won. (This) game will be the same, but we can win."
The former Milan coach feels that his side is in good shape to face Marseille despite playing against Nancy at the weekend. And Ancelotti would want to win the game to continue Paris Saint-Germain’s unbeaten run.
“We have had four days to prepare after our 1-0 win over Nancy. That's good for recovery; we can play this match with the right intensity."
