Carlo Fracassoli extends his lead on Day 3 of 2012 Melges 24 World Championship
So far six races of the 2012 Melges 24 World Championship have finished at the end of three days featuring Carlo Fracassoli on the leading podium place with 12 points. The Melges 24 fleet completed the scheduled races on Day 3 under moderate wind conditions.
The fleet did not have any races on the second day because there was no wind over the racing area which made the participants wait ashore for some breeze to fill in. However, the fleet was not lucky because the breeze did not come back and the sailors missed
the second day proceedings.
Italy’s Carlo Fracassoli was outstanding on the race course on the third day proceedings and clinched two bullets along with a third finish compiling 12 points and hitting the top podium place. The Italian sailor grabbed some higher finishes during his campaign
and one discarded race brought him on the leading position.
Fracassoli started his campaign with a slow start as he finished on 12th position in the first race which pushed him on lower places. However, a fifth and a second spot in the next two races to improve his ranking in the standings.
After no races on the second day, the Italian sailor was not disheartened and began his campaign with new determination on the third day and maintained his top spot.
