Carlo Fracassoli happy after hitting 2012 Melges 24 World Championship victory
Superb sailing performance on Lake Garda waters brought the Italian sailor Carlo Fracassoli on top of the 2012 Melges 24 World Championship fleet standings. The Italian sailor was outstanding on the waters and compiled 32 points after putting up impressive
show. He claimed four bullets along with some higher finishes during his run in the event.
Start of the regatta was slow for the Italian sailor as he grabbed 12th finish in the first race of the event which brought him down in the standings. However, a couple of higher finishes of fifth and second position were enough for him to hit
the leading podium position.
After that, Fracassoli continued his dominating form and retained his top position until the finish of the regatta. The first race of the final day was yet another slow finish for the Italian sailor but he grabbed a second and a first place in the next two
races to book the title.
Fracassoli was quite happy after lifting the title, “I am very happy! Victory at the European Championship was a nice confirmation of our hard work and this is definitely a major victory for the development done by the team of Quantum sails.”
The weather conditions on the Lake Garda were ideal from the start of final day proceedings. The northerly Peler breeze gusted around the race course strongly to provide the sailors with perfect sailing conditions.
