The former Giallorossi coach hails the Italian international as a ‘Champion’ and wants the new owners to pay whatever it takes to make him stay at Stadio Olimpico Rome
De Rossi’s Roma contract is set to expire at the end of the 2011/12 season, and the club has failed to reach an agreement with the player as yet.
However, Mazzone has urged the Giallorossi officials to make the Italian stay at the club whatever it costs. He believes that the Italian international is an important component of the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Roma-c31603 team, and they are incomplete without
him.
The 74-year-old is confident that De Rossi’s love for the Giallorossi will not let him leave the club. He added that along with club skipper, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Francesco-Totti-c13940, he is the symbol of Rome, and the fans have a lot of affection for the
duo.
While talking to goal.com, Mazzone said,
“As a Roman, a former player and former Coach of the Giallorossi, my point of view is that De Rossi cannot leave Rome.”
“Daniele cannot go. Alongside [Francesco] Totti he is part of the team flag and a symbol of the city. Now, beyond the affection I feel for Daniele, we all know that we are talking about a great player.”
The former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Napoli-c40003 manager insisted that the new owners have done a fairly reasonable job since taking over the club in the summer, but letting De Rossi leave will be a mistake and they will have to rue for it for a long time.

“The new owners took control of the club in the summer and said that they want to build a great team and have a great future. I must say that so far they have done well, but if they allow De Rossi to leave, how could they defend
