Carlos Aalbers, NEC Nijmegen sporting director, has confirmed that Ajax Amsterdam have officially tabled a bid to acquire Jasper Cillessen’s signature in the ongoing summer transfer market. However, he revealed that the Amsterdammers have not made a serious
offer to lure the 22-year-old away from McDOS Goffertstadion.
The Amsterdammers are in search of a new goalkeeper after Maarten Stekelenburg’s move to AS http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Kenneth-Vermeer-c20618, they still need a replacement should
Vermeer be unable to wear the gloves for any reason.
Ajax reportedly tabled a bid of 1.7 million Euros for Cissellen earlier this week, but it seems like they have to raise their offer if they have any intentions to add the gloves man to their ranks.
Aalbers believe that the 22-year-old will soon represent http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Netherlands-c753.
“He has plenty of growth opportunities. He has already received a call-up for the Netherlands though he did not enjoy any playing time. But it suggest that he is in the picture of the Oranje and will soon represent them”, Aalbers said while talking to the
media.
The http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/NEC-c40018 sporting director then went on to reveal that the Amsterdam giants have not made a serious offer.
“Ajax makes comparison between the transfer of Stekelenburg and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Michel-Vorm-c25482. 1.7 million Euros is not a serious offer for Cissellen”, Aalbers added.
The 22-year-old has an ongoing contract with NEC that is due to expire in the summer of 2014. Reports suggest that an offer in the region of 5 million Euros would be needed to lure the gloves man away from McDOS Goffertstadion.
The gloves man currently enjoys regular first-team action with the outfit from Nijmegen, where he broke into the first team last term. Since then, he has made 32 appearances. On the other hand, should he join Ajax before the summer transfer market slams
shut, he will be battling for gloves at Amsterdam Arena with Kenneth Vermeer.
The current situation suggests that the 22-year-old’s move away from his parent club seems an unlikely affair in the ongoing summer transfer market.
