Carlos Alberto Betancur most likely to secure a World Tour licence for the 2012 season
Following his tremendous run of form, Carlos Alberto Betancur of Team Acqua & Sapone has become the centre of attention for a number of World Tour teams.
The cyclist has bagged numerous victories in the 2012 season including a first place finish at the Trofeo Melinda along with a stage 5 win at the Tour of Belgium 2012.
He occupied the fourth overall position at the Four Days of Dunkirk and the Giro del Trentino, and also claimed the young rider’s classifications at the race.
While commenting on his recent performances Carlos told El Colombiano, “I’m happy with everything that’s happened over the past few months”.
“The two wins that I had in less than a week have opened up some more doors for me”.
“Many have come to ask if I am available, but I’ll only know in August if I’ll stay with Acqua&Sapone or if I’ll go to the WorldTour. But there are a lot of offers”.
“Gazzetta dello Sport said last week that I’m like an eagle, who fixes his eyes on his prey and knows when to launch himself,”
“Both courses suited me and my style. I’ll fight to make the team”.
The 22-year-old started his professional pursuit with Team Acqua & Sapone in 2011 and is continuing his second consecutive season with professional continental side.
It is believed that Betancur have signed a deal with World Tour side Team Liquigas-Cannondale for the 2012 season but he continued with Team Acqua & Sapone.
