Puerto Rico managed to squeak past Canada 79-74 victory on September 6 in a second round game of 2011 FIBA Americas Championship. The Puerto Rican kept their composure and hung tough against the late charge by the Canadians to
win their second game in a row.
Carlos Arroyo
Carlos Arroyo spearheaded team Puerto Rica with his game-winning 26 points, three rebounds, four assists and one steal. Arroyo spent 31 minutes on the court and shot 64 percent shooting from the field, 50 percent from the three-point
and 67 percent from the free throw line.
Alexander David
Forward Alexander David Galindo was the second best scorer of the side with 13 points and five rebounds.
Jose Juan Barea
Dallas Mavericks point guard Jose Juan Barea clutched a game-high five rebounds and dished out five assists for Puerto Rica. He also tallied 11 points for his team.
Andre Jay Rautins
From Canada, Andre Jay Rautins led all scorers with 18 points. Rautins also clutched three rebounds. He shot 71 percent from the field and finished on 100 percent from the free throw line.
Carl Jerome English
Carl Jerome English also scored 13 points along with five rebounds for Canada.
Dominican Republic 84 – Uruguay 76
After topping the Group-A in the preliminary round, Dominican Republic is continuing their successful journey in the second-round as well. On Tuesday, they recorded their second consecutive win in the second round of the 2011 FIBA
Americas Championship when they overpowered Uruguay 84-76.
Al Horford
Atlanta Hawks star Al Horford led Dominican Republic with an outstanding double-double. Horford racked up 23 points, grasped 14 rebounds, dished five assists and made two steals during his 39 minutes stay on court. He hit 64 percent
of his field goals and was terrific from the charity stripe at 90 percent.
Francisco Garcia
Francisco Garcia scored 12 points, four rebounds and three assists for the Dominican Republic during his 33 minutes stay, in which he shot 50 percent from the field and 67 percent from the paint.
Martin Osimani
Uruguay’s Martin Osimani tried his best to rescue his team, but didn’t get much support from the rest of the roster except Reque Jereil Newsome Linder. Osimani made 22 points, grabbed two rebounds and provided six assists during
his 39 minutes stay on court. He shot 60 percent of his field goals and remained100 percent from the free throw area.
