Carlos Beltran ready for new challenge – MLB News
Carlos Beltran who has recently become a part of the St. Louis Cardinals has said that he had a lot to learn from last year and as he has recovered from the injury, he has a better sense of how much game is left in him.
"Last year was a real important year for me," said Beltran, who underwent surgery on the knee in January 2010. "After coming back from the [knee] injury, it gave me a sense of where I am and how much baseball I have left. It was a good season for me."
Previously part of the New York Mets and the San Francisco Giants, the player remained an enviably and impressively powerful player in 2011. Among other things, the player had to his credit a fairly good average of .300 the whole year.
The player had 84 RBIs with no less than 22 homers. At a time when he had knee injury that could have adversely impacted his performance, his ability to opt for positional move saved him from the worst that could have come his way.
With his movement to right-field, he is reported to be open for any idea to get back to the centre-field. The $26 million deal with the St. Louis Cardinals, as it seems now, has been a judicious deal for him, given the fact that he has become a part of the
St. Louis Cardinals.
Carlos Beltran is a supposedly strong addition to the St. Louis Cardinals at a time when the club seemed to have lost one of the most accomplished sluggers in Albert Pujols. In order to be an adequate substitute for the player, it goes without saying, he
has to remain fit.
“I'm just going to continue to take care of myself. When you get older, you're more focused and more prepared, and you know what you have to do in order to maintain yourself.”
With Beltran confident and looking forward to demonstrate his potential, it will be worth watching how he performs while playing in the Cardinals. The club will be hoping that Beltran can provide a positive impact in the offence for the upcoming 2012 regular
season.
