Carlos Beltran’s optimism intact as the St. Louis Cardinals struggle to keep pace
While the St. Louis Cardinals are struggling to retain their dominance in the league, Carlos Beltran has indomitable hopes for future. On Monday, June 11, the Cardinals outfielder revealed that part of the reason why he joined the Cardinals was that he saw
a good chance to win a championship.
"One reason I ended up in St. Louis was that it was a good chance for me to be able to win a championship.”
The dream seems to have received some unexpected blows this time round with the shaky performance of the team in the league. The Cardinals had staged a surprise comeback in 2011 to win the World Series; something that fans hope might well be repeated this
time too.
While it remains to be seen whether that practically transpires or not, Beltran has the motivation, and the willingness to go all-out for facilitating the seemingly elusive victory for the Cardinals.
Beltran, nonetheless, is cognizant of the challenges involved in realizing this dream. He might have ended up in the team at a wrong time since the Cardinals are not performing up to the mark this season, but he sees all the prospect of the team prevailing.
"That's what motivates every single player in the big leagues -- to try to win a championship and be the last team standing," Beltran said. "As a player, you have to understand that's not an easy thing to do. A lot of players have played great for 18, 20
years and [have] not been able to win a championship.”
Carlos Beltran, much to his misfortune, has yet to be part of a team which sits at the apex of winning pyramid. His signing a deal with the Cardinals, nonetheless, has all the potential to pay off at the end.
Whether it remains a dream too big to materialize or really achievable at the end is something that cannot be stated with certitude at this point in time. Nonetheless, Beltran will keep his fingers crossed for something promising at the end as he and the
team both deserve to ascend the ladder of championship.
