Carlos Boozer, Derrick Rose take Chicago Bulls to a 108-98 win over the Sacramento Kings: NBA Update
After a shocker against the Golden State Warriors in the last game, Derrick Rose was back to nearly his best on Thursday night against the Sacramento Kings.
However, it was not the reigning MVP who stole the show on the night. Carlos Boozer, the Bulls power forward who has been in the firing line for more than a season now showed on the night how good he can be on his day. Boozer hammered
16 points and grabbed a game high 15 rebounds to lead Chicago to a 108-98 win over the Kings.
Rose had 19 points and 8 assists, but also gave away 5 turnovers. Richard Hamilton also netted 16 points; Ronnie Brewer had 12 on a perfect 5 of 5 shooting including 2 from the long range while Luol Deng had 12 for Chicago which
53.8 percent from the floor including 6 of 12 from downtown.
The Kings were led by 20 points from Marcus Thornton. DeMarcus Cousins cemented his status as a rising star with 15 points and 12 boards, seven of which were on the offensive end. Tyreke Evans had 19; rookie Jimmer Fredette canned
14 points; John Salmons had 12 and Chuck Hayes finished the night with 7 points and 10 rebounds.
Bulls had a fantastic 19-5 start, but allowed the Kings a ten point unanswered run to the Kings going into the second quarter. The Bulls still had a 30-24 lead and made it a ten point game early in the second. Minutes later, they
reeled off a 10-0 run of their own to stretch the advantage to 15 points, 44-29.
The Kings rallied though and poured some quick baskets late in the frame, ending it at 53-60. The Kings then started the third quarter with a 7-2 spree to come within 60-62, only to see Rose and Hamilton combine for six consecutive
points. They continued to bounce back though and were within one (73-74) with 4:21 left in the third. However, the Bulls ended the third quarter on a strong note, carving out a 11-2 run.
The spurt dented the Kings’ cause big time and they didn’t manage to trouble the Bulls in the fourth.
