Carlos Boozer trades scenarios that would work for the Chicago Bulls – NBA Feature (Part 1)
Although, Chicago Bulls did a splendid job by pulling in a superb 62-20 record during the previous season, however, Carlos Boozer, whom the franchise brought in for the power forward position, failed to deliver what was expected
of him in the previous season.
A season before landing with the Bulls, Boozer scored with an average of 19.5 points and clutched 11.2 rebounds per contest with the Utah Jazz. However, Boozer failed to deliver the similar goods in the very next season with the
Bulls, his stats slipped to 17.3 points and 9.6 boards per game.
Although, this slight fall isn’t an alarming situation for the Bulls, but considering the amount, franchise has been paying to the 29 year old definitely swirl conjecture that Boozer is over paid for his services.
Moreover, the Bulls have a vacant shooting guard spot, which they are also looking to fill in. However, with Boozer in the side it wouldn’t be possible for Chicago to acquire a player at the shooting guard position, due to financial
jam.
So the question arises at this stage that if the Bulls trade Boozer away in order to acquire a luminary player for the shooting guard position, what will they do about the power forward position?
This brings to the scene, Taj Gibson and Omer Asik, who have been playing behind Boozer for a while and could most probably share minutes for the forward position. However, it remains to be seen that whether or not the Bulls trade
away Boozer or not.
As it depends more on the lockout because if the work stoppage comes to end sooner than the Bulls would be ready to make the shift. However, if half or more season will be lost due to the labour stoppage than the chances of trade
are very rare, as it wouldn’t leave much time behind to make a quick deal.
Until then here are some imaginary deals that would work for the Bulls in case they decides to trade away Boozer in the 2011-12 season.
Andre Iguodala
Andre Iguodala is a swingman who had plays for the Philadelphia 76ers, who holds a good track record in order to find his place in the Bulls line-up. Andre’s career average scores are 15.6 points, 5.8 boards and 4.8 assists.
However, in the previous season his point scoring average remained bit low 14.1 points, but dished out 6.3 assists and grasped 5.8 boards per game. This shows that the 27 year old has the spark to seriously handle the shooting
guard position for the Bulls.
Besides that what makes it a straight away deal are their salaries, as Andre’s $13.6 million matches well with Boozer’s $13.5. What makes it even more perfect for the Bulls is that apart from handling the responsibility of the
shooting guard, Andre can come in off the bench when Luol Deng heads back to the bench.
With the kind of set of skills that Iguodala possesses he could become a No. 2 or 3, scorer for the Bulls and also a serious danger for their opponents.
This deal seems perfect for the Bulls, but the real question is whether the Sixers would want to trade away one of their key members. More importantly, where would Boozer fit in the Sixers line-up, bearing in mind that Philadelphia
already have the services of veteran Elton Brand in the same department in which Carlos had specialized.
