Carlos Condit: If Georges St. Pierre is not fit I am ready to avenge Martin Kampmann-loss – UFC News
Carlos Condit, the current interim UFC welterweight champion, in a recent interview commented that he is eager to take on Georges St. Pierre in order to unify the title, but if this does not happen he would like to avenge his career’s only loss by taking
on Martin Kampmann.
Condit shared these views in a recent media interaction. He remarked that he is ready to settle his score in his upcoming November engagement against Martin, adding that if Georges does not get fit before the clash there will be no other choice for him but
to do so.
Also known as ‘The Natural Born Killer’, Carlos has in a very young age reached at the pinnacle of the sport. The 28-year-old Albuquerque proud has been in total 33 mixed martial art bouts and boasts 28 wins.
Condit is a unique belligerent. He has full command over both the ground games as well as the straight forward knockout pounding technique. Carlos started his UFC career in a bout against Martin and headlined the ‘UFC Fight Night’ pay-per-view.
Unfortunately, things did not go well for the former World Extreme Cagefighting welterweight champion and Condit lost the bout via split decision. Since then Carlos has been on a win streak and has obliterated many big names such as Jake Ellenberger, Rory
MacDonald and others.
In his last bout Carlos was scheduled to take on Josh Koscheck at UFC 143 but due to an inadvertent injury sustained by GSP (Georges St. Pierre), the young pounder was scheduled to take on Nick Diaz.
The bout was for the interim welterweight title as GSP’s injury forced the champion to go out of the octagon for an indefinite period. Carlos emerged victorious by collecting a unanimous decision and grabbed the interim title since then Carlos is eagerly
waiting for his clash with the ‘Canadian Rush’.
During the press conference Carlos stated, “If it turns out Georges can’t fight in November, most likely, I will fight somebody else. I really wanna unify the belts, but there’s also some other guys that I would like to fight as well. You know, Martin Kampmann’s the
only guy that I’ve lost to in the UFC, the only guy I’ve lost to in about the last six years, so I would definitely like to avenge that loss.”
Carlos has definitely popped a backup plan in the minds of the UFC bout-makers who will undoubtedly take into consideration the Carlos-Martin clash as the feud has become personal.
Martin, on the other hand, has also shared his urge to collide with the title-holder and stated, “I want to fight for the title. I want to fight Carlos Condit, or I want to fight GSP. That’s who I want to fight. And I think I earned the spot.”
