Carlos Condit offered fight with Jon Fitch, wants Chris Lytle instead

Following his sensational knockout of Dan Hardy at UFC 120, Carlos "The Natural Born Killer" Condit called out the number two welterweight in the world, Jon Fitch.

But Condit revealed to mmajunkie.com that even though the Ultimate Fighting Championships subsequently offered him that very fight, he turned it down and has his sights on other opponents. He stated, "It
just didn't work out as far as timing went. I didn't think I was going to be able to get a long enough camp in for Fitch for the time period that they were wanting me to fight."

Condit might have good reason to back away from his initial challenge to Fitch. Fitch is an almost unheard of 12-1 in the UFC (23-3) overall, and is known for implementing a smothering wrestling game.

Fitch is one of the least sought after opponents in the UFC. This is because he’s easily the best fighter not to hold the belt in the welterweight division. And since his boring style tends to make other
fighters look bad, he has been kept away from title shots.
Instead, Fitch will face Jake Ellenberger at UFC 126, and Condit suggested it would be another Fitch decision victory.

Rather than fight a less exciting fighter like Fitch, Condit, who earned a $60,000 Knockout of the Night for his win over Hardy, has his eyes set on Chris Lytle, whose exciting style always makes a Fight
of the Night bonus likely.

"I think it would be a great fight," Condit told the website. "Lytle always comes to put on exciting shows, and that's obviously what I like to do also."

Lytle is coming off of a win over Matt Serra and has seen a career resurgence, winning four Fight of the Night bonuses in his UFC career.

Condit has also said he’d take a fight with Diego Sanchez if Sanchez doesn't drop back down to lightweight.
