Carlos Condit unanimously nails Nick Diaz, grasps interim welterweight gold at UC 143 – UFC news
Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) and the mixed martial art fans all over the world saw an impressive show of strength, agility, and resilience when Carlos Condit defeated Nick Diaz after grabbing a unanimous decision in order to engrave his name over
the vacant Interim Welterweight gold.
UFC presented its 143rd pay-per-view on Saturday February 4, 2012 and collected due praise from mixed martial arts fanatics all around the world. The whole special edition was a collection of high profiled bouts between men who are considered the most lethal
in the whole of UFC.
Nick Diaz and Carlos Condit were scheduled to take on each other in the octagonal ring with the stipulation that the victor will take on the number one welterweight in UFC, George St. Pierre.
The pre-bout analysis by several critics revealed that the brawl will be a cutting edge one and both men despite of trying hard to knock the other one out, might not be able to do so since they both are almost equal in all aspects.
The fight clearly proved those statements. Carlos raged inside the Octagon everywhere he did not subjugate himself at any single point of the ring and continuously attacked Diaz from various angles. Condit, infamous as the Natural Born Killer fought with
his natural style and threw as much punches and flying knee kicks to Nick as was possible.
The 5-round extravaganza started and immediately converted itself into a rash series of brutal punches, kicks, strikes to the thighs, flying knees and well calculated fists to the face.
According to the stats collected by various statistical methodologies, Condit was able to throw more effective punches as compared to Nick.
Nick seemed kind of sluggish during the bout. While Carlos was circling the ring and attacking from various least expected angles, Nick just stayed in the centre of the ring in a defensive mode. Even the fans were unanimous over the fact that Carlos emphatically
won the first, third and fourth round.
After becoming the interim welterweight champion and grasping the golden ticket to take on UFC’s number one welterweight and most feared brawler George St. Pierre, Condit said, “It will be an honor to fight St. Pierre. Georges is a guy I've looked up to
since I was a kid, before the UFC.”
Carlos the 27-year-old natural killer after scoring his career’s huge win at Mandalay Bay Events Center, revealed his game plan and said, “Nick's pace is second to none. Chopping down his legs and slowing his pace was definitely a part of the game plan.”
Nick Diaz, the El Diablo and the current world number two welterweight was so much distressed at the decision that he shared his feeling of leaving UFC and even the sport of mixed martial art forever but one thing’s for sure that he does have a sportsman
spirit since he praised Condit and said, “Hats off to Nick Diaz,” adding that “He's a warrior. I've got nothing but admiration and respect for how he fights.”
Carlos has improved his stats to 28 wins in 33 brawls and Nick after collecting the loss stands at 26 wins in 35 skirmishes. Carlos will now take on George St. Pierre who is currently recovering from a knee injury.
