Carlos Condit up for a rematch against Rory MacDonald – UFC News
Rarely do we see fighters like Rory MacDonald challenging their nemesis right after finishing their opponents. MacDonald is known for his reserved attitude but this time he did not hesitate to call out Carlos Condit, former interim champion who recently
lost his title to Georges St-Pierre.
MacDonald destroyed B.J. Penn in the third round of their Saturday night bout at UFC on Fox 5. During the post-fight speech, MacDonald came up saying that he wants to face Condit again, as he has unfinished business with him.
Replying to the challenge, Condit’s manager Malki Kawa asserted that his fighter has never backed down from any man and he never will. Kawa claimed that Condit is ready for a rematch, if the organisation is ready to put it together.
“Carlos Condit doesn't back down from any man. If the UFC asks us to fight Rory MacDonald, Carlos will take the fight,” he said while talking to MMA Weekly.
The reason why MacDonald wants Condit again is to prove that he is the better than the man who gave him the first loss of his career. Both fighters went head to head at UFC 115. MacDonald dominated the first two rounds but faded in the third. Condit finished
him off while just seven seconds remained for the third round to end.
It should be noted here that Condit is known for accepting tough fights against opponents who are usually better than him, or at least they are considered better than him. He recently went head to head against Georges St-Pierre, the best in the welterweight
division. Even though Condit lost to GSP, he gave a tough performance against ‘The Rush’, who was hoping to finish the interim champion with a knockout.
Luckily for MacDonald, president of the Ultimate Fighting Championship Dana White has shown interest in the fight between MacDonald and Condit.
If the fight happens, MacDonald is hoping to prove his mettle against Condit. However, many believe that the time has gone and the era for MacDonald is over. Condit is the new sensation and he is young energetic and strong enough to counter MacDonald’s strike
easily.
