Carlos Delfino disappointed the Milwaukee Bucks did not come calling – NBA News
Carlos Delfino does not have a home for the coming NBA season. But he is too busy to think about that at the moment.
The Argentinean forward is currently in Barcelona training with the Argentinean national team for the upcoming London Olympics, scheduled to begin later this month. Delfino has been hard at work, and recently participated with
the team in exhibition games against Spain and the United States. The Argentinean side lost both games, but are still looking good for the Olympics.
Delfino played for the Milwaukee Bucks for the last three seasons, and is looking at a new home in the next one. While he represents his home country in Europe, his agent is busy back in the States finding a new team for him.
The Cleveland Cavaliers, Atlanta Hawks and Boston Celtics are said to be interested in hiring his services, but no agreement has so far been reached and terms of a deal are not known yet.
Delfino averaged 9 points, 3.9 rebounds and 2.3 assists for the Bucks last season, but did not receive a call from them when the season ended for a possible re-signing. The Bucks have Monta Ellis starting at the shooting guard
position and rookie Doran Lamb to back him up. The fact that Delfino had the worst +/- per 48 minutes on the team did not work in his favour, but he still feels disappointed that his former team did not come calling.
“I expected to have at least a conversation [with Milwaukee]. I ended up aggravating my injury because I wanted to play with the Bucks. It hurts me a little bit that they have not even reached out to me. That’s life, things happen.
I learned from the experience. Coach Scott [Skiles] and the owner [Herb Kohl] have been very good to me. The rest… I expected a little bit more. Sometimes you expect not to be rewarded, but to be recognized for your effort, playing through injury and doing
things for the group,” said Delfino while talking to Hoopshype.
Delfino is most probably going to end up as a backup guard in a new team next season, but still has a good many years left in the NBA. And it is never too late to make a new start.
