Carlos Freitas lavishes praise on Jeffren Suarez and claims that Sporting may sign more players – Report
Sporting Lisbon’s director of football, Carlos Freitas, has lavished praise on newly acquired striker Jeffren Suarez, and has revealed that the Portuguese club may sign more players during the transfer window to bolster their ranks.
The Lions lost out to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/FC-Porto-c39186 for the title last season and have been overwhelmed by their rivals over the years. To bridge the difference of quality between their opponents and them, the Lisbon based club have been on an unequalled spending spree this
summer and are getting ready to win the Portuguese Primeira Liga once again.
With money not being an issue in the transfer policy, the club have splashed the cash for talents like http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Oguchi-Onyewu-c28332, and have managed to totally change the core of the team.
One of the latest players to make Estadio Jose Alvalade his home is former Barcelona youngster Jeffren. The front man was signed for an undisclosed fee after struggling for game time at Camp Nou, Barcelona.
Although Jeffren is quite young, Sporting director Carlos Freitas claims that the attacker has the experience and undoubted ability to become a potential star at the Lisbon outfit.
“The player is only 23 years old, but already has a great resume and experience.
“Playing with the club regularly will help enrich it further in the next five years.” He was quoted as saying.
The official was also keen to praise the swiftness of the smoothly conducted transaction and relished the good terms Sporting have with Barcelona.
“This was a quick process by the will of the player and the good relations we have with the Barcelona club to which we appreciate,” Freitas added.
While the Sportinguistas have been ruthless in the transfer market and have nearly added 19 players to their roster, the director did not rule out further signings and said that the club are still eyeing several players.
"We are always aware of the market and good players,” he further added.
As there is still time left for the transfer window to close, Sporting can choose to add even more quality players to their team, just like Jeffren.
